Cobra rad speed 3 wood review9/17/2023 ![]() It sounded and felt a little like the Callaway Rogue ST LS Fairway I reviewed earlier in the year, which is never a bad thing. It wasn't too high pitched and loud like you may expect from a Ping fairway but wasn't low pitched either, like you expect from the likes of TaylorMade. The sound offered a good balance and plenty of satisfaction when caught out of the screws. I knew exactly where I was with this fairway wood, which luckily for me was straight down the middle of the fairway on most occasions. At impact it felt thick and fast and gave plenty of feedback regarding where I had struck the ball on the face. In the feel department, again I found the LTDx excelled. A small Cobra logo features as an alignment aid and two slightly raised diagonal lines on the top of the crown frame the ball nicely. The sole design of the club isn't too much to write home about in my opinion - Cobra can over complicate things with designs and colours, but again on top where it matters it's fairly neat and tidy. The previous Cobra Radspeed fairway woods featured a gloss finish and I have to say I'm a fan of the change, glare on a fairway is not something I welcome. ![]() It features a compact head size with a slightly, drawn-out, triangular head shape and a contemporary matte finish. It gave me a good feeling about it as soon as I addressed it - I felt confident without it looking too big behind the ball. The lighter carbon crown then allows more weight to be repositioned low and forward in the PWR-COR to maximize speed and stability.įrom the off, I thought the LTDx fairway looked great: it's modern, sleek, but powerful looking at the same time. Cobra have used data from thousands of impact simulations and created multiple zones with different thicknesses to increase ball speed across a larger area of the face. ![]() PWR-COR Technology means that a substantial amount of weight is positioned low and forward in the head for faster ball speed with reduced spin rates.Ī new H.O.T Face design is a said to deliver more ball speed through machine learning - like the engineering ideas behind Callaway's Flash Face. The main points for consideration are as follows: The TechĪs you'd expect, the fairway woods share many of the same technology designs as the LTDx driver family. I tested the standard Cobra LTDx model on the FlightScope Mevo+ Launch Monitor using Titleist ProV1x golf balls as well as on the course at Bingley St Ives Golf Club, hitting from various lies as well as regularly off the tee. ![]() Sophie found the Cobra LTDx Driver to perform extremely well in her testing earlier on this year - would I feel the same about the fairway wood?Īs is quite common for a lot of manufacturers now, the Cobra LTDx fairway wood line-up for 2022 has three offerings: the Cobra LTDx LS (low-spin), Cobra LTDx (standard version with a traditional head) and the Cobra LTDx Max which is the most forgiving draw-biased model. ![]()
